I was so relieved to discover this magazine catch. Completely solves the problem I had with my colt mags barely locking in my magazine well. This gave me the positive lockup I was looking for.

I was having mag drops every 3 or 4 rounds. This catch fixed that.

  3. Don't see a difference. 3 Star Review

I just received the mag catch and don't see any difference from my original 223 mag catch. Will have to wait and see if my mags actually catch after installing it.

  4. cheap and quick solution for mags falling out. 5 Star Review

I bought the spikes tactical mag catch because a standard mil spec was slightly short and upon putting the gun into battery it would drop the magazine. Literally a 1 minute install and it functions flawlessly.

  5. Mags lock in tight now. 5 Star Review

When I built my 9mm AR I used a standard .223 mag catch with my Anderson Arms lower and Tactical Ambush mag block and the ASC mags I use would not lock in. I swapped it out with this Spikes Tactical catch and they lock up tight now. No more embarrassment of the mag falling out of the gun while I'm shooting it! Well worth the cost and 9mmAR has super fast shipping.

  6. Not different than the Rock River Arms one & had to modify 3 Star Review

I ordered this latch and the RRA one. Both of them look identical. I installed each and had the same issue with the C-products mags not locking into the Hahn dedicated well.
Both latches are bent at a 90 degree angle. When either was installed, there was just enough play that if you pushed the release button forward (not in) slightly, the mag could be just pulled out and was not locking in.
I had to resort to "bending" both in slightly to just less that the original 90 degree bend. After that, both latched on to the mag and would not release until the button was pushed in completely. Not to mention the RRA one was $7.04 vs this one at $14.95 shipped. At least I have a spare.

Minor detail I had not considered when building my 9mm ar was the mag catch not protruding far enough. This thing works as advertised.

I have a Rock River Arms AR that was converted to 9mm and I was having an issue with my mags being released with a few rounds left in them causing a malfunction. I replaced the stock release with the Spikes Tactical release and so far it is working great.
